I've been fiddling with it since then but never came up with a satisfactory background. I am now almost content with it but I figured I couldn't hold on to it any more... had to move on.
So here it is. Molon Lave...Come and Get them.

A character concept I developed about a month ago. It's a cross between a good Gremlin, an Ewok and E.T. I tried to go for a cute looking critter with character. Working with Fur was an interesting experience.
Since rendering times are too long for my machine so the image is not Highres.
I did some sculpting in Mudbox as well which I find to be a top piece of software.
Hope you like it.
Just an idea I got for a character. I was thinking of making it in 3D but then decided to pick up the pen and tablet and give it a shot. This is my first attempt to paint one of my sketches on a tablet.

Orpheus and Eurydice storyboard 1/2

This is a storyboard exercise on the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The story goes that Orpheus and Eurydice got married but on their wedding day the girl was bit by a serpent in the ankle and died. Then Orpheus went down to Hades to beseech the Gods to let Eurydice come back to the land of the living. In order to move them he played his Lyre and sang a beautiful song about their love. The God's being touched by the song let the girl go on the condition that Orpheus would not turn back to look at her as they travel up to the surface. Unfortunately the bloke turns right at the last moment and the girl gets pulled back down to hades. There is more to it but it's besides the point to write about it now. Look up the story if you are interested it is not copyrighted? ;-).

My storyboard is on the Orpheus trip from Thrace down to the Peloponnese to find the entrance to Hades. One his way he has flashbacks of Eurydice's death. I kept the sketches rough on pencil and brought them into Photoshop to color them in. Comments please?

Ok this is a LAME joke but there is really not much I could do about it. I had to find a concept to work with in order to do a short animation for the first semester in the MA of Animation I'm taking. This project was mostly a primary transition phase from Max to Maya... and what a frustrating process it has been! Apart from the modeling workflow which I found prehistoric, the animation stability of the programm is great. Anyway. The MA I'm taking is at UTS Sydney, AU.

A portrait of a US Captain WWII. I have recently watched "Saving private Ryan" and images have been swirling in my head. Inspired by Alexander Beliaev's recent AWESOME work I went on try out something with similar technique. Of course it's nothing close to his work but it's a try. I have found Riven Phoenix's anatomy lessons pretty helpful lately as well... take a look here:
Done in photoshop with pencil base. 7 hours approx.
Hope you like it and C&C is of course most welcome.
